One of the richest words in the entire Bible, grace has the general meaning of favor, kindness, mercy, or goodwill.  It is one of the key attributes of God, as seen in passages like Exodus 34:6, "And he passed in front of Moses, proclaiming, 'The LORD, the LORD, the compassionate and gracious God, slow to anger, abounding in love and faithfulness.'"
